Introduction Darwin
Witness the origin of a new species!!

Well...we got there in the end!! And we're still talking to each-other!! :-) The hundreds of entries we had came up with some brilliant suggestions for names, some neat reasons why...and a few names that were just hilarious. Congratulations to Patrick White of Toronto, who can now justly claim that the monkey in Monkey Shines 2 was named on his suggestion. Well done Patrick, we hope you enjoy your T-shirt, free Fantasoft game of your choice, and of course, a free copy of Monkey Shines 2 (featuring Darwin) when it is released!!

We'd like to thank absolutely everyone who entered the contest...even Andy (who suggested the Monkey looked like me!!) and hope you continue to keep watching this space, for all the latest news on Monkey Shines...1 and 2 !!

Listed below are all the winners, and some "Honourable Mentions"...names that didn't quite make it into the final five...but ones we liked and wanted to share with everyone.

First Place - Darwin

Suggested by Patrick White of Toronto, Canada

Places 2 to 5 (in no particular order)

* CLEM - Suggested by Larry Jorgenson of Humboldt, Canada

CLEM was chosen because of the clever acronym that Larry came up with. CLEM stands for Cool Little Electronic Monkey...and sounds pretty cool!

* Spanks The Monkey - Suggested by Timothy R Goynes of San Jose, California

This proved to be a very popular suggestion, with many entries coming in with Spanks or Spanky or some variant!! We'd expected it...and think the first person who suggested it deserves a prize just for being brave enough to suggest it publicly :-)

* Chester - Suggested by Billy Smith of Austin, Texas

* Kima - Suggested by Simon Szykman of Rockville, Maryland

It means monkey in Swahili

Some "Honourable Mentions"...names that almost made it or ones we found amusing...

  • Shades, suggested by Eli Burke
  • Socrates, suggested by Michael Nilsen
  • Wrex, suggested by Phil Heacock - because he Wrexs stuff !!
  • Nixon, suggested by Andy Boretto - This was the first suggestion of what became an interesting argument...just who the monkey looks like. This first suggestion was quickly followed by...
  • Orbie, suggested by Eric Dagnall - Roy Orbison fans around the world will be upset at this one! Mercy!!. An interim CEO will be upset at this next one...
  • Steve Jobs, suggested by K Brandt - Because "Sub-human mental development, somewhat unkempt hair, and a tendency to screech angrily... the parallels are striking". We at MSHQ are appalled that anyone could possibly think that, and just want to make it clear to Mr Jobs (and more particularly his lawyers) that although we believe in freedom of speech, we in no way condone such a comment...please believe us!! And Andy...you're off my Christmas card list...
  • Fil - Because the monkey looks like BHCS's WebMaster Phil Roy!!?? Andy, I do have a facial hair problem, but it isn't that bad :-(
  • Sputnik, suggested by David Rosa
